The Volvo EC140D crawler excavator is designed to excel in the most arduous conditions, delivering the performance that is needed to turn tough jobs into profitable ones. These excavators have the enhanced hydraulics that are required for the most heavy-duty work, such as road building, earth moving, truck loading, excavation work and trenching. The Volvo EC140 crawler excavator also has the efficiency, breakout force and power to maximise returns on those demanding jobs where lesser excavators may struggle.
Tier 4 Power
The Volvo EC140 crawler excavator also possesses the day-long operator comfort that reduces stress and boosts productivity, while easier servicing makes for increased uptime. The machines are powered by Volvo’s own Stage IIIB/Tier 4 D4 engine, complete with components from the same Swedish manufacturer to ensure a perfect match and optimal performance. This powerful engine delivers the best environmental performance through low emissions and is incredibly fuel-efficient. It has an active Diesel Particulate Filter and a regeneration process which is key in lowering emissions. This methodology is unique to Volvo and does not impact productivity, performance or general operation in any way. The machine also has an ECO mode to improve fuel efficiency by 5% using variable electronic pump control - again without any performance loss. The operator can actually select from a number of working modes to best suit the task in hand.
Inside the EC140 Cab
Inside the Volvo Care Cab, the operator enjoys superb 360-degree visibility in a comfortable and safe environment. The cab sits on rubber and silicone viscous mounts, which increase the absorption of the shocks associated with daily use and minimise vibration to create a better and more productive working environment. A large colour screen displays sharp information on all key systems, and the control panel allows for quick diagnostic checks to maximise uptime. This screen also displays the images from the cameras that give an excellent view of the area around the machine. The rear-view camera, for example, sits atop the counterweight and provides a useful view of what is behind the machine, thus improving the safety of operations. The switchgear and controls, meanwhile, are located for ease of use and improved operating efficiency.
The Care Cab also has an automated climate control system which allows the operator to maintain the cab temperature at their ideal level. The powerful system has great capabilities in defrosting and general air circulation, using 14 carefully positioned air vents.
At the heart of the Volvo EC140 crawler excavator, however, is sheer performance. Digging and cycle times have been improved, and the machine has excellent capabilities in dealing with hard material. Enhanced lifting capacity makes light work of heavy objects, while the stability of the machine has been improved to cope with such loads. A clever attachment management system, meanwhile, allows the operator to store settings for 18 attachments, thus making swapping out these tools so much quicker.
